Five moves take a board from a task list to a schedule that reacts when something slips.

Everything below runs in the Placker web app, on a board you have already imported, and every step is a control in the Gantt chart. Work through it in order, because the dependencies decide the plan dates and the critical path is calculated from those dependencies. Actual dates keep coming from card status and are never overwritten, so the plan and the record of what happened stay separate.

The outcome

One current plan, and reporting you do not assemble

The schedule reflects the work because the schedule and the work are the same cards.

You now have one plan that survives contact with the week. A date moves, the dependent cards move with it, and the critical path shows immediately whether the end date went with them. Nobody had to be asked for a status update, because Placker logged start dates, end dates and time spent as cards moved to completed.

That same data feeds the reports. The progress tracking template gives percentage complete, an expected delivery date and task counts by status. Practical advice to get the most out of your workflow

Import every board before you schedule anything

A board group and a cross-project Gantt only cover boards that are already in Placker. Bring them all in first, or the portfolio view has gaps you will not see.

Turn the critical path off on very large boards

Placker rechecks every card while the critical path is visible. Switch it on when you are planning or replanning, and off again when you are simply working the board.

Lock the cards that must not move

Fixed commitments such as an audit window or a client demo need the do not auto-schedule attribute. Without it, a strict reschedule will drag them along with everything else.

Take a baseline before the first change request

A snapshot of the original plan is the only way to answer what slipped and when. Placker compares the current plan against it later, and you cannot capture it retrospectively.
